Derech HaLimud: השיעור קובע מציאות. If the Lechi is visible at a height of 10 Tefachim the minimal required שיעור has been achieved. If the סנדל covers his foot then the שיעור has been achieved. Context & relativity re: שיעור ומידה. The שיעור becomes not absolute & an end unto itself - defining the object and establishing its status - but rather a logical requirement established in order to reach a goal, a reality. In the latter case the שיעור becomes relative & changeable rather than absolute. Logic plays a major role; we are dealing with משפט as opposed to חוק; the former is relative, whilst the latter is absolute. The status of ענבים העומדות להיבצר vis-a-vis קרקע.
