You mention in the shiur that davening mincha early will help you avoid a lot of issues. What exactly did you mean by this, though? After all, I assume you are still a "Rabanan" man, so therefore how does this help you in terms of davening maariv early, i.e. at a mincha/maariv minyan where you would come just for maariv? The only thing I can think of where this helps is legabay starting shabbos early, where we rely on R Yehuda especially only for Shabbos. I routinely do just this, daven maariv early, and go to a shkiya maariv. Now that I've heard this shiur I need to reconsider! I always thought shkiya was the switch between day and night.
