Inn our analysis of the first Mishna in our Perek, the sugya in B"M 44b examines the relationship between gold & silver coins, which is פירא, which טבעא? Rebby vacillated on this issue, and Rav Ashi comes to establish that our Mishna seems to support Rebby's original position that gold is טבעא, and silver is פירא. Hence the Mishna presents a חידוש with regard to copper coins. The latter become פירא changing the status of silver from פירא to טבעא. The sugya rejects the argument of Rav Ashi & proceeds to establish that Rebby Chiya accepted the view of Reby 'in his youth'. That position will also be rejected as the sugya presents an exception to the Rabbinic law that forbids lending a volume of grains & receiving that exact volume in return.
