Description

The Mishnah is Massechet Shabbat tells us that it is prohibited to begin certain activities once it is time to daven mincha. What activities are prohibited? And are they prohibited only from Mincha Ketanah or even much earlier from Mincha Gedolah? This is an incredibly practical topic as it may be entirely prohibited to begin a meal, start a new project at work, or begin doing schoolwork in the afternoon if one has not yet davened mincha! We learn the necessary background and explore the psak of the Shulchan Aruch as it relaters to Sephardim. We will explore the psak of the Rama and the halacha for Ashkenazim in Part 2. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
