The sugya in Masechet Bava Metzia 14b addresses the case of a seller who sold to the buyer a stolen field. The owner of the field (נגזל) retrieves his field confiscating it from the buyer.The buyer sues the seller for monies lost. What is the extend of the rights of the buyer to be reimbursed for his purchase of the stolen field? Must the seller return not only the monies he received from the buyer but additionally the appreciation of the value of the field while it was in the possession of the buyer? We will analyze the great debate on this issue regarding שבח and its implication regarding דמי פרות.
