The sugya in Masechet Bava Matzia 13a-b offers three different approaches to understand the debate between Rebby Meir & the Chachamim. Can the finder return the Shtar to the מלוה? The case is a shtar that omits mention of the שעבוד. R' Meir says that if the לוה admits the validity of the document & that he has not returned the loan, why not return the shtar to the Malve? What's to lose? The shtar cannot be used against the buyers who purchased land from the לוה. In the context of this sugya we will analyze the issue of: may witnesses sign a shtar for the לוה without seeing the מלוה and the giving of the monies to the borrower? Is this document suspected of being a שטר מוקדם?
