Description

The sugya in Masechet Bava Kamma 98a quotes two of Rabba's cases of indirect damage, גרמא בנזיקין. One is where he threw his friend's coin to the bottom of the sea. His friend will pay good money to retrieve his coin. The second case is where the Mazik smooths out his friend's coin removing its seal but did not destroy the physical substance (the metal content) of the coin. We will offer an intro to the concept of indirect damage, bringing to light a famous issue about the nature of payment for damages.
