For Masechet Ketuvot 11b we wish to study the concept of מקח טעות, a concept central to the laws of דעת when two individuals enter into an agreement and one fails to 'deliver the goods' as the other had anticipated. This concept is powerful enough to void an agreement by undermining דעת. Here we will discuss the case of a husband entering into a marriage and to his surprise & disappointment he discovers that she was not a בתולה as he was lead to believe. Under what circumstances can he back out of his commitment to pay the ketuva? Is there a possibility that he can nullify the marriage itself?
