Rav Chisda in Masechet Rosh Hashanana 26a formulates a new Halachik principle which has many repercussions. The one for Shofar is explicit, but more important for us today is the implicit application to Nesiat Kapaim based on the statement of R' Yochanan in Berachot 32b. This is the principle of אין קטיגר.
