The sugya in Massechet Kiddushin 70a-b details the episode of the man from Naharda'a who insulted Rebby Yehuda and his Shamah, and the subsequent 'confrontation' between R' Yehuda & Rav Nachman. The latter called for R' Yehuda to appear before him for a judgement. At the end of the story Rav Nachman agreed that the man from Naharda'ah not only deserved נדוי, but moreover should be declared an Eved, excluded from Jewish marriage & Yuchsin. All this is based on the man's admission that he was a descendant of the House of the Chashmonaim. After Hurdus all those were עבדים. The widespread problem of P'sulei Yuchsin in Naharda'ah is examined.
