The sugya addresses the question: what was Ezra's goal in Bavel, before the Aliya to Eretz Yisrael, regarding separating the פסולים? Would he leave the P'sulim behind or pressure them to join him on Aliya to E"Y? Did the P'sulim settle in the Land by their own volition? Were they self-motivated? Why did Nechemya permit the kohanim of Bavel to continue this practice of eating Teruma even in E"Y? After all he did not allow these Kohanim to eat from the meat of the korbanot due the doubts of their statue - their Yichus - regarding Kehuna. Did he rely on חזקה? But the חזקה was established vis-a-vis תרומה דרבנן in Chutz, how could this impact on תרומה דאורייתא in the Land? We'll study the comments of Chazal re: one who marries a פסולה for $.
