Description
This shiur concludes our series on Aveilut and looks at what the gemara calls, 'Aveilut Yeshana' national historical mourning.
This shiur has two parts. The first looks at the nature of halacha during the Shoah and other periods of persecution, both the formal evaluation of mitzvot under such circumstances, and the informal ways in which Jews made a life of mitzvot meaningful in the most trying of conditions.
The second half explores the parallels and contrasts between the halachot of mourning for an individual and the practises of Tisha B'Av
