Description

We begin with 33b, complete the sugya of K'vod Chachamim, & begin the gigantic sugya on 34a-b of Mitzvot Aseh that women are or are not obligated in. The rule is that a mitzva with a time exemption is classified as זמן גרמא & women are not obligated. Mitzvot that have zero relationship to time, women are included in the obligation. A list of exceptions to both these rules is provided by our sugya. Examples include Matza, Hakhel, and (possibly) Simcha on the side of חיוב, as well as Talmud Torah Pirya veRivya, & Pidyon HaBen, on the side of פטור. Where does Tefillin fit in? It is time related (no Tefllin on Shabbos) & woman are exempt. Can tefillin serve as the paradigm? Or perhaps ראיה? But why not use הקהל or Matza to derive the opposite?
