For Masechet Kiddushin 22b-23b we will address the following issues: How does the קונה acquire an Eved Kena'ani? Does חליפין work? What about משיכה והגבהה? Does the Eved lift the קונה, or is it the other way round? How does the Eved acquire his freedom? Can others receive a שטר on behalf of the Even even without being commissioned by the Eved himself? Is freedom a זכות for the Eved? Can the Eved free himself? Does he own money to give to his master? If he receives his own שטר שחרור can we apply the Halachik principle גיטו וידו באין כאחת? We will study three opinions on this issue. Can the Eved appoint an agent to receive a גט שחרור on his behalf? Shall we compare this to a married woman who appoints an agent to accept her bill of divorce?
