Description

The Gemorah records that Rav davened an early Maariv on Friday night, but the sugya vacillates on the question: did Rav recite Kiddush al HaKos? Why was there no doubt about the fulfillment of kiddush in Tefilla before nightfall - after קבלת תוספת שבת - yet there was a doubt about קידוש על הכוס in that very same time zone? Apparently the kiddush in Tefilla & the second kiddush al HaKos are two distinct Kiyumim, the 1srt reflects the Kedushas HaYom of Issur Melacha, while the 2nd is generated by the full fledged Kedushas HaYom of Mitzvas Oneg & Seuda. It is quite possible that the latter Kedushas HaYom is not engendered by Tos' Shabbos & the Kidush and seuda must wait til nightfall. We will seek to defisne the nature of kidush al HaKos.
