Description

The opening paragraph of Parshat Shmini surprisingly brings together the tremendous joy of the inauguration of the Mishkan and the tragedy of the deaths of Nadav and Avihu, the two sons of Aharon who immediately bring a foreign fire into the Mishkan. While at first glance these two events coming together seem coincidental, we learn that both of these moments were supposed to take place on earlier dates and God specifically organized it that these two events would happen at the same moment! What are we meant to learn from this? (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
