Based on a Torah of Rav Kook. Mordechai is the quintessential "Ish Yechidi". He stood up for what was right against all opposition. The root of this Middah means understanding that I am unique. Rav Kook reveals the concept of "holy hatred", of setting about boundaries around myself so that my unique inner self should not be tainted by foreign influences.
