We will study Chulin 96b-97a, Rava's three principles that determine the law of Taaroves, and the discussion of Tos' regarding Rava's reliance on ביטול בשישים במין במינו. Tos' quotes Rashi who proves from two sugyos that Rava hold like Rebby Yehuda that מין במינו אסור במשהו. Rabenu Tam rejects the proofs of Rashi & insists that Rava accepts Bitul in Min BiMino with the exception of select Issurim such as Avodah Zara, Tevel, and Chometz. In all other Issurim there is Bittul and that's the final Halacha. In the course of his presentation, Rabenu Tam establishes that the Halacha is always like R' Yehoshua ben Levi even against R' Yochanan. This he proves from a sugya in Megilla re: Beis Hakneses. Although tangential, we will study this proof.
