For Ketuvot 6a we will study the Issur that applies to one who tightens the cloth that was used as a stopper for a barrel of beer and squeezes out the liquid absorbed within the cloth on Shabbat. What is the nature of this Issur? The Rishonim identify this as סחיטה. But what is the אב מלאכה in this case? Rabbenu Tam rejects two possibilities. It cannot be ליבון, i.e. cleaning a garment, because to launder a garment we require water as the clensing agent; no other liquid will do, centainly not beer! On the other hand it cannot be מפרק (breaking the attachment between the fruit & its holder) since he is not collecting the beer that he is squeezing; the beer goes to naught. We will analyze the view of the Aruch regarding פס"ר דלא ניחא ליה.
