Description

We will continue our goal of defining a Davar SheBi'kedusha (דבר שבקדושה), based on the Rav's Yahrtzeit shiur of 50 years ago. Our focus today is the Sifri in Haazinu regarding the verse כי שם ה' אקרא. This might be the source for our custom to recite kedusha on a daily basis as opposed to the Masechet Sofrim which has kedusha only on certain days. We will study the Vilna Gaon's breakthrough regarding the kavana one must have when he recites the first verso of Kriyas Shema, and we will see that according to the sugya in Yoma, the obligation to respond upon hearing the Shem HaMeforash of Yud Key is derived from the very same verse כי שם ה' אקרא. This will lead to a definition of a Davar SheBi'kedusha which eill justify the Mechaber in #109.
