We wish to deepen our understanding of the concept of סלק, and address the question: does the principle of סלק apply LeHalacha? In the sugya this principle applies in a Ta'aroves of מין במינו according to Rebby Yehuda, מין במינו לא בטל. We use Salek to remove the מין במינו from the outset. But we don't pasken like R' Yehuda; we would assume that the study of Salek is merely theoretical. The Rashba establishes that Salek applies even acc. to the Chachamim. We will study the Shach's interpretation of the Rashba & the defense offered by the Pri Megadim.
