Description
Hashem's original intention was for Yakov and Eisav to work together to reveal His Oneness in the world as it was revealed on Har Sinai. "Something happened" and Eisav became corrupted, thereby destroying the letter Alef of the word 'Anochi'. By learning Torah LiShma, and through the lights of Chanuka, we are able to restore the broken Alef of Eisav. This was Yakov's intention by learning in Yeshivas Sheim VaEiver upon leaving his father's house. In addition, the Neshamos of Yakov and Eisav resurface in the story brought in the Gemara regarding Ilfa and Rav Yochanan (Taanis 21b).
