The coincidence of the Akeida and the death of Sarah has very deep roots. Ultimately it was Sarah who was offered on the Akeida apparently. In a higher place, a deep 'Switcharoo' took place at the Akeida. The source of this goes back to the beginning of Parshas Vayeira when Avraham and Sarah are told about Yitzchak's eventual birth, and how Sarah's laughter effected the entire future sequence of events.
