The sugya vacillates about the possible leniency of permitting טעימה without אכילה on a Taanis. Tos' and the Rosh seem to assume that the sugya is dealing with a Taanis Yachid; in the case of a Taanis Tzibbur there would be no doubt that tasting would be forbidden. In this shiur we will try to analyze the distinction between Taanis Tzibbur & Taanis Yachid that would justify the differece as far as tasting is concerned. We will demonstrate that a Taanis Tzibbur has two dimensions: Yom shel Taanis & Isurei Taanis; a Taanis Yachid, however, has only the first dimension.
