Description
In this mussar shmooze as we enter the month of Elul we will raise the following questions: the Rambam writes that we are judged as Tzadikim based on the majority of our acts as Mitzvos vs. the minority i.e. our Aveiros. We can be confident that we are Tzaddikim, so what's all the ungency about self-evaluation and Teshuva at this time? Furthermore, Teshuva is not a time-bound mitzva and is obligatory the entire year, so why all the to-do about Elul? And if we need Teshuva so desperately, how can we come at the 11th hour, at the end of the year, and expect Hashem to accept our Teshuva as a rectification of our shortcomings of the entire year? Where were we until now? Do we tend to find excuses & alibis until we face the moment of truth?
