Description
In this shiur on the sugya of Birchas HaTorah, we will establish the unique nature of this Beracha within the context of universal Birchat HaMitzva, namely, the beracha was established not on the Ma'aseh Limud but on עסק התורה. The latter is a broader concept which justifies the Halacha that the beracha over Torah need not be repeated every time a person resumes his Torah study during the course of a day. We will analyze the words of the Rambam and establish the two dimensions of Birchas HaToah, 1) as a Matir & 2) as a daily Chova. Both of these allow for a single Beracha per day. We will try to understand the custom of Rashi - as quoted by the Rashba - to recite Birchas HaTorah twice, once at home and a second time in the synagogue?
