A large number of the pesukim at the end of the parsha, and a significant amount of Yaakov's time in exile, is dedicated to his acquisition of wealth in the house of Lavan. Why is his amassing physical possessions so important? Why not limit it to a few pesukim? We examine how this trend exists throughout both Sefer Bereishit and history as a whole and it is essential to the goals of exile.
