We will compare the ירא אלוקים to one who enjoys the product of his own labor, הנהנה מיגיעת כפיו. The latter is considered superior, but why? Is labor an end in and of itself? Does the laborer enjoy a sense of independence which is invaluable? Or perhaps he frees himself from the anxiety of guaranteeing bread for himself & his family so that he can focus his free time on the service of Hashem. In the last part of this shiur we will discuss the sugya of leaving the Beis HaKnesses during Kriat HaTorah.
