Description

We'll study the sugya of Kedushas Beis HaKneses & try to define this kedusha. We will present the Ramban & Ran both of whom maintain that the Kedusha is MiDerabanan. Then we will analyze the view of the Rambam & we will try to prove that according to this view, the Kedusha is DeOraisa. There are significant ramifications, e.g. removing a stone from the wall of the synagogue for the sake of another mitzva, planting a tree in a Beis HaKnesses, the prohibitions of Morah, the mitzva of building a Beis HaKnesses & the license to coerce a member of the city who refuses to contribute his share to the building of the shul. We will look at the Sefer HaYereim as well as the Rambam's enumeration of the mitzvos in his introduction to the Mishna Torah.
