Description
Having finished the sefer Mevoh Hashe'arim the week before, Rav Weinberger concluded the series with a piece from the back of the sefer Derech HaMelech. It is a memoir of a chassid who describes a meditation that the Rebbe gave over to him and his friend. The avodah of hashkatah is the quieting down of the yeishus (ego). During sleep there is a quieting down of ratzon (desire), a state that we should try to reach while awake. If we could see our thoughts printed out, we would think that we were insane. The meditation involves being aware of the process of thinking, slowing it, reaching a place of quiet, repeating a phrase in Hebrew, then to speak to Hashem for the purpose of doing tikkun (repair) of middos by focusing on the positive. Results of the meditation will be visible after some weeks of daily practice. To have a connection with the Rebbe, follow his instructions.
