Description
P. 314. Revealing the soul of Jew requires more than dry advice. A visit or short stay with the Tzaddik nowadays no longer helps us to nullify our physicality - we're not "blown away." As the generations decline, our sforim (holy books) need to elaborate more and spell our task out in more detail. How did earlier generations learn actual halchah (Jewish law), e.g., hilchos Shabbos, before sforim such as "Shmiras Shabbos Kehilchatah"? Simple Jews lived with the traddition they saw in their parents' home. Nowadays we require the power of imagination and detailed instructions how to combat the yetzer harah (evil inclination). Drawing Hashem's name (the actual letters) in our mind's eye. Sforim with exercises to work on our mach'shavos (thoughts) and immagination (e.g., Eckstein's Visions Of A Compassionate World)
