P. 306. Chassidus adjusts to the nature of the generation. The ture place of chassidus is engraved in the Chassidim (devout followers), in the Jews, rather than books and scholarly works. External (clothing) versus internal (preservation of holiness) chassidus. In every generation a ladder is lowered toward us, so that every Jew can grab that ladder and climb up to raise his spiritual level. Even in Shushan did we manage to become stronger Jews. We often cannot understand what the earlier Tzaddikim (righteous) were talking about; therefore we need the Tzaddikim of our generation in a way that we can comprehend and connect to.
