We will analyze the principle of שומע כעונה and present two definitions as to how this principle operates. This will allow us to grasp the controversy over Birchas Kohanim. Must each kohen recite the beracha, or can one kohen recite the beracha while the other kohanim listen quietly and fulfill their obligation thru the principle of שומע כעונה? This will shed a new light on the controversy regarding listening to the Shatz's Kedusha in the middle of one's silent Shemona Esrei.
