Chapter 20, page 45. The Divine Presence descends into this world - exile - and looks to be revealed. Since its light is so great, it is either revealed completely or concealed completely - no middle ground. This leads to God becoming perverted in this world, and people moving away from God for this reason. The same is true of the Jewish people. They are so exalted that they experience the Divine light in extremes - complete revelation or concealment. This either leads to a full embrace of Judaism and God or antagonism towards God and Judaism. Through this world, we filter the light of God, attempting to enact a complete revelation - to redeem God and the world.
