Description

The heathen prophet Bilam could calculate the daily moment of Divine anger & if not for special Divine protection, Bilam could have cursed Yisrael. How short or long is the שעת זעם? Tos' assumes that it is such a fraction of a second that Bilam could only begin his קללה at that moment and once having begun "on time" he could continue his curse thereafter. The Ztlach, on the other hand, understands that there is an entire hour that lends itself to Divine anger. We will study the insights of Rav Kook as to why it is the rooster that is connected to this שעת זעם, and this will lead us to an understanding of the paradoxical nature of man. He is intellectual/spiritual but also physical/sensual. Should R' Yehoshua curse the Tzeduki to do him in?
