Description

The two nissim (miracles) of Chanukah were completely enclothed in teva (nature). The neis of the oil burning could only have been seen by a person who was paying attention and watching it from beginning to end. Also the neis of the Maccabees winning the war was a complete manipulation of the nature of the world. The greatest pleasure that Hashem has is when we do His will. The tikun (spiritual repair) of Yom Kippur is about the union of neshama (soul) in the guf (body), of Hashem and the Jewish people. Shoes are designed to make a separation between the person and nature, but in the Temple, no shoes were worn.
