Description

A piece from the Chalban's sefer on Shavuos. P163. The debate between the malachim (angels) and Moshe Rabbeinu ended with Moshe grabbing the kisei hakavod (the Throne of Glory), in the world of Briah, which is where the neshamos are from. The malachim live in the world of Yetzira, below the world of Briah. The greatest delight that Hashem has is when He is revealed in the darkest place. The exact purpose of the Torah is to illuminate and transform darkness into light. The descent of the Torah is the greatest elevation for all of existence. The malachim depend on us. Only with the Torah can a neshama living in a body pull itself out of the darkness and to get closer to Hashem.
