Description

From a Ma'amar by Rav Eliyah Weintraub on Parshas Zachor from the Sefer Yesod Meisharim. All the nations of the world shook during the splitting of the Yam Suf and lost - for that moment in time - its free will. When the divine revelation is at such an exaclted level, that no other options seem available. Esav, the grandfather of Amalek, was the pesoles (garbage) that was separated away from Yitzchak Avinu (our forefather). The laughter inherent in Yitzchak's name points to our laugther at the time of redemption. Yitzchak is wine, Esav / Amalek is vinegar, and the only power that can oppose Yitzchak is Esav, the same way that vinegar can spoil wine. The quesstion "Is Hashem amongst us or not?" created an opening for the rah (evil) of Amalek to attack. The drinking of wine on Purim brings us to the place of "this is what it is," where we don't understand - but Hashem has kept wine in storage for us for Purim and Shabbos from the beginning of creation. On Purim the power of "hechrech" (the way it must be) becomes available in such a way that we no longer have to ask any questions: we are happy as Jews close to Hashem. There is no more doubt.
