Description

Providing for the poor lies at the root of the Yom Tov of Pesach. (Rambam - Hilchos Yom tov, 6th perek, halacha 17). The unique mitzvah (commandment) of Maos Chitim (literally: money for grains) above and beyond regular tzdakah (charity) on other holidays and Shabbos. By the time we begin the seder, all invitations have already taken place - what do we mean by saying: kol divchin yeisei ve'yeichol (let any hungry person come and join us). From Rav Kook's siddur. When a healthy sense of generosity in giving is prevented from being actualized (e.g., lack of funds or emotional stoppage). After an obstruction - an explosion of life. Questions and answers at the seder. The essence and natural instinct of a Jew is to give and to help every person.
