Given at Ohel Sarah (The Amen Group) on the yahrzeit of Sarit Marten a"h. Every drop of Torah is life. If we ignore Torah, then we ignore the essence of our life. Torah is who we are. We cannot live without Torah. The Greeks tried to detach us from FEELING that Torah is the essence of our existence. Why do we learn? The most freightening sickness in our generation is a lot of learning with no connection with life. When the marketplace is closed it is as silent as a cemetery except for the strange people (the "tarmudim" of the Talmud) selling wood in the marketplace. The time to light Chanukah candles is exactly at the time that life lingers beyond death. "Oyd Yosef Chai." Hashem always wants to bring the Jewish People back to life.
