Description

What is the idea of selichos (prayers we recite before the High Holidays)? Hashem prays that we should pray. Teshuva can not be preformed without screaming. We recite selichos at night because night is a time of crying. We don’t even know how to begin performing teshuva. Like the water carrier who can’t bear the weight of the water, we can’t bear the weight of our sins. We cry out to Hashem to take the weight of our sins off of our shoulders.
