Description
A Torah said before the Holocaust Kinos (Lamentations). The author, Rav Weissmandl, is well known for his untiring rescue efforts for the Jews of Slovakia and Hungary. In 1944 Rav Weissmandl unsuccessfully negotiated with the Nazis to save Jews, escaped from a cattle car on the way to Auschwitz and arrived in America after the war. There was great guilt over the abandonment of family members during the Holocaust. Religious survivors justify their existence by spreading Torah and plead to Hashem to alleviate their darkness, in order to fulfill their mission.
