From Maharal's Gevuros Hashem, chapter 51. Why is matzah called 'lechem oni' (the bread of poverty)? Matzah is poor, because like a poor man, all it has is itself with no additives. Matzah is also the bread of geula (redemption) and cheirus (freedom), the complete opposite of poverty. A poor man is not tied to anything. Poverty is terrifying, but it is freedom. Some people cannot be alone and thus fill their lives with entertainment - they add chametz to their matzah. Once you become free, you have to learn how to use your freedom. Hashem is what He is always, just essential, simple, and one. Kedusha (holiness) comes from being alone. Geula is about ripping away from everything else and being alone. The month of Nisan is still the best month for redemption. Rushing is the struggle to preserve the beginning, while slavery is living in slow time. White clothing indicates simplicity, which is why the Kohen Gadol wears them, a kallah (bride) wears them, and we are buried in white linen.
