Chanukah is Hashem's last gift to us to help us through the galus (exile). Yaakov's suffering in exile is the suffering of every Jew's suffering in exile. Teaching of the Ba'al HaTanya 'Tiku Chodesh Shofar'. Each new Chanukah candle brings a new light into my life, and gives me ability to start over again. How do we contend with Esav? With a shor (ox) and a chamor (donkey), Yosef HaTzadik and Moshiach. There are two types of redemptions - one miraculous, like Pesach, and one through natural means, like Chanukah. Hashem loves all of our efforts, especially in this dark galus that we are still in.
