Our neshamah (soul) is sent into this world to battle. We face greater battles today because our generation lives in the ikvesa de'meshicah (footsteps of the messiah). We must fail many times before succeeding. Fixing our character traits is a lifetimes work. A time of hardship is a favorable time in Heaven. Every one of us has a soldier's role in helping Hashem's army, the Jewish People, win the war against evil.
