Description

p. 10 - When the Smichah document (Rabbinical certification) is more important to me than working on myself. The approach to tikkun hamidos (character improvement) must not merely be a peripheral activity. We absolutely can remember that which is important to us - certainly we are able to study for tests and remember. What is my heart truly interested in and bound to? Strategies to arrange matters so that we don't forget the purpose of our lives. We don't forget to eat or smoke (heaven forbid), so how can we bring ourselves into a set of circumstances to always remember our tikkun hanefesh (improving our soul)? The parts of the human being - according to Torah - that are responsible for remembering. Our memory - an external intellectual piece of information, or a natural feeling, my living reality? The heart is on the inside and the brain is external.
