Description

In every middah (personality characteristic) and every aspect of avodah (divine service) that we want to improve, we must first examine what motivates us to perform it. This avodah is divided into 3 sections: 1) clarification of what we really want; 2) daven to Hashem that we only do what is right; 3) to perform each act lishmah (with pure intent) as well as lo lishmah (with ulterior motives). Example of clarifying our desire to learn Torah. We must daven to Hashem to enlighten us with the true ratzon (will), so as to act perfectly lishmah. "Please help me so that the only true motive for this mitzvah will be so as to please You, and not for vain reasons!”
