Description
It is not enough to use our intellect to overcome our desire to sin. We must rid ourselves of the desire all together. We must first awaken the righteous desires of our neshama (soul) before we can destroy the sinful desires of our body. When in front of an unwarranted food, we should say, “My external body wants to eat this, but my deepest self really doesn’t want to eat it.” Even if we end up eating what we shouldn’t eat, we still accomplish a great deal by clarifying the truth. It is important to clarify the truth to ourselves, even if we are unable to act upon it. Discussion about coming to shul on time.
