Description

To attain fear of punishment, one must read the words of Chazal (the Sages) and their stories that inspire yirah (fear). Prayer begging Hashem to give us the tools to feel Yiras Ha’onesh (Fear of Divine Retribution). Hisbonenus (thinking deeply into our actions) leads to teshuvah (repentance). Hashem will respond to a request for Yiras Shamayim (Fear of Heaven). Bracha of Reb Arela Belzer for a Jew who was caught deserting the army in Europe. Nature of the world is that there are times of closeness (ahava- love) and times of distance (yirah- fear).
