Description

p 156. The philosophers had no understanding of the purpose of learning Torah. Prophesy these days is with children and idiots. Neviim (prophets) and tzaddikim have nullified themselves, thus they reveal Hashem. Prophesy comes through the nefesh hamedameh (the imaginative faculty) The beginning of avodas Hashem (serving G-d) is quieting the mind, quieting the intellect. We believe that the essence of the soul is G-dliness while the philosophers believed that the soul was not eternal. Learning Torah only where there is time is not really learning, as learning requires kvius, consistency and daily set times.
